Dr. Stefano Bertozzi has a rule "Don't take more than you bring at a Potluck", but this rule doesn't just apply to potlucks. It applies to the world as well. School is a perfect example. IF YOU DON'T STUDY FOR A TEST DON'T EXPECT A GOOD GRADE!! The effort you put in equals the result you get out.You get out what you put in. Another example is in math. 4=4 not 9 or 10. Put 4 in get 4 out.
I guess to sum up his overall message, (which also applies to good deeds and bad), be aware of how you actions effect you and the people around you and how you can make up for them. To me I found his speech inspiring. I mean how often do you think about how input=output. It makes you think of what you've done wrong and how to make up for it. From being nice to others and them being nice in return to working hard for seven years so you can graduate from a great school, you need to bring your best to get the best results.
But some things need to be done without expecting something in return. As Dr. Bertozzi said there are a lot of people out there who give more than they take.
Here are some things to make you smile.
